Brandon Aoki joined SBWCN as the Training and Recruitment Coordinator in 2026. Originally from Fresno, Brandon moved to Santa Barbara to attend UC Santa Barbara, where he earned degrees in Aquatic Biology and Communication. He has always had a love for animals and the ocean, and has taken every step to work with the natural world.
During his time at UCSB, Brandon discovered that what he really enjoyed was not only learning about animals, but getting other people excited about them too. He has worked as an informal science educator and aquarist, a tide pool naturalist, and a wildlife rehabilitation volunteer. He is excited to bring that passion for animals and people to SBWCN and help build a strong, welcoming volunteer community.
Outside of work, Brandon enjoys running, tidepooling, surfing, rock climbing, hiking, and basically anything outdoors.
