
Dr. Cheryl Chooljian
Director of Veterinary Medicine, Cariño Veterinary Program

Dr. Chooljian has a diverse background in veterinary medicine and wildlife conservation. She earned her BA in Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington and her DVM degree from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, with a clinical concentration in avian, exotic, and zoological medicine. After graduating, she completed a specialty internship in Equine and Zoo Medicine at Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch.
Before joining the SBWCN team, Dr. Chooljian was the clinic director and veterinarian at City Wildlife in Washington, DC. She has also gained experience at a number of AZA-accredited zoos and GFAS-accredited animal sanctuaries, worked as an entomology and forestry field and research assistant, and volunteered at dinosaur digs.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, gaming, hanging out with her cats and fish, and taking medium-length walks on the beach.
