Pam joined the SBWCN team in 2025 as a part of its growing education initiative. Before moving to sunny Santa Barbara she completed her PhD from the University of Southern California researching the social lives of extinct species. She also holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and an MA from the University of Chicago. Her expertise in story telling lies in the confluences of our natural and cultural worlds. Some of her other work lies in the cultural histories of birding and the history of Nature. She is a multispecies communications specialist and has certifications in both Science and Technology Studies and as a California Naturalist.
She has a diverse professional background working in public education and outreach with citizen science initiatives like The Longest Swim, and institutional programming with the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History and the La Brea Tar Pits. Her work with SBWCN aims to grow a robust education program with opportunities for formal, informal, and public connection so as to share the wonderful worlds of wildlife and wildlife rehabilitiation with the public.
